In Galatians 3:14 and Ephesians 1:13, we learn that the believing sinner receives the Holy Spirit by believing the Gospel, by receiving Christ, by going by Faith to the cross of Calvary. As eternal life is the free gift of God, so is the Holy Spirit. We read this statement in Romans 5:5, “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” If the Holy Spirit is not in the individual’s heart, he is not saved, he is not a Christian.
